Tajik (Tah-jeek) Tajiks reside in northwestern Afghanistan. They make up around 27% of the population in Afghanistan. There are more Tajiks in Afghanistan then Tajikistan. About 10% of Tajik people have blond hair. They speakTajiki, Russian and Uzbeki. They are Islam, Christian, and can be Jewish. Tajik woman and men wear European clothing, farmers wear large boots, and older Tajik men wear turbans and Islamic cloaks. No characters in The Kite Runner are said to be Tajiks.

Baluch (Bah-loo-ch) Baluch’s have a very small population and mostly
reside in southwestern Afghanistan. They live in mountainous regions to protect
them from invaders. They are predominately Sunni Muslims and speak Baluchi. They
have very dark skin and very dark hair to go with it. Women wear jewelry, which
is an important part of their culture and a long dress called a pashk.
Baluch men wear very long shirts that reach below their knees (jamag or kurta) and
long trousers called a salwar. No characters in The
Kite Runner are said to be Baluchs.
Nuristani (Nuhr-ih-stahn-e) Nuristanis are the sixth largest group in Afghanistan. They live in the most northeastern part of Afghanistan. They are split into nine different groups, the Ashkuni-Wamyi, Bahgali-Kati, Grangali, Kamviri, Malakhel, Waigeli, Prasuni, Tregami and Urmuri Nuristanis. Nuristanis have light hair, light eyes, and light skin. Nuristanis are very involved in politics and also work as farmers, herders, and dairymen. No characters in The Kite Runner are said to be Nuristanis.
